Well, it wasn't supposed to be a very regular series, but I just recently flicked through another issue of hakin9, so I thought I might share my impressions with you as well again. Shorter this time as I have a really tight schedule today. So, let's get to this already.

Then, in the Attack section, we can read about hacking Xbox (to be honest the author totally lost me in the technical details I had totally no interest in, but hey, it doesn't mean it's bad, maybe I'm just not the intended audience), about gluing IP packet sniffers and spoofers in python using Pcapy and Impacket modules, about digging out media files from the media streaming services and about modifying binary files using a hex editor (for fun mostly).
As a final article in this section, we can read about cryptographic hash functions. A nice article, although the Example 1 appears to be a bit over-enthusiastic (a polite way to say it's more of dogs bollocks). If you decide to read it, you might want to equip yourself in some anti-bullshit-gear here and here.
Then there is an article titled Unconventional methods of intrusion detection talking about some conventional methods of intrusion detection. It starts the Defence section and is followed by an article about messing with BMP files in order to obscure them, another about Silverlight security and yet one about types of DMZ setups.
That's it for now. Have fun!
