YDPdict — YDP dictionaries front-end for Palm Powered mobile devices

What'a new? ::

Problems with the newest PalmOS devices (probably caused by some changes in memory organization) — work in progress.

No support for Windows Mobile, SymbianOS nor any other mobile system powered devices. Slow progress in J2ME implementation and some attempts in completing WM5 tool-chain. So, some work is in progress, but no miracles should be expected soon.

What is YDPdict ::

YDPdict is a front-end application, which gives every Palm Powered handheld user grate possibility to make use of the English-Polish and German-Polish dictionary when being on the road or simply away from the PC. Front-end supports databases of dictionaries produced by Young Digital Poland company. To make use of YDPdict you need to own legally purchased copy of either of the two dictionaries from YDP.

Licensing ::

The code is released under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2), so: This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.

Download ::

You can get every version as a sources packet or as a binary one. If you're not planing to play around with code, the second option is highly recommended, because building from sources may turn out to be somewhat tricky (especially if you're not familiar with PalmOS cross-compilation tool chain for Linux — details in the sources package).

For testing purposes (or if you like being on a bleeding edge ;-) download the Repository packets (every bug report will be very much welcomed). They may be somewhat unstable (detailed state of development described in the Repository section). If you like stable products and don't wont to encounter any exciting surprises while using them, you should go for one of the stable versions (which will show up as soon, as I feel we're fed up with testing ;-) In History you can get any milestone version of the application.

There was no stable version yet. The first candidate is in the final testing state now.
